Ashmolean Rooftop Restaurant

A celebration of food and wine alongside art and culture, the Ashmolean Rooftop Restaurant provides the perfect setting for any occasion. Dine in our bright, airy restaurant or on our spectacular rooftop terrace, enjoying panoramic views of Oxford’s iconic spires.

Located at the top of the world’s oldest museum, the Ashmolean Rooftop Restaurant features floor-to-ceiling glass windows that open onto a spacious terrace, ideal for alfresco drinks and dining when the weather permits. Afternoon tea is a highlight, often inspired by the museum’s exhibitions, making every visit a unique experience.

Open daily, join us for lunch from 11:30 am to 3:30 pm and Afternoon Tea from 11:30 am to 4:00 pm (subject to availability). Discover our Winter 2025 menu here.

After dining, take the opportunity to explore the Ashmolean Museum’s rich collections, from ancient Egyptian artefacts to contemporary art, each telling stories of culture and history.

Gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan options are available. Please inform us in advance of any dietary requirements to ensure your visit is as enjoyable as possible.

St James’s Café

Welcome to the St. James Cafe, a light and airy oasis nestled in the heart of the park, offering breathtaking views of St. James’s Lake and its iconic pelicans. Early risers can indulge in breakfast classics like Shakshuka and breakfast sandwiches until 11.30 am, while the all-day menu presents a tempting array of options, including refreshing salads, juicy burgers, crispy fish & chips, and delightful kids’ meals. For those on the move, our grab and go sandwiches and salads make for a perfect park picnic. If relaxation is on your mind, why not savour a lakeside cocktail on the terrace? Whether it’s a quick bite amid the park’s beauty or a leisurely meal overlooking the serene waters, St. James Cafe promises an unforgettable experience for all.

The Savill Garden Kitchen

Savill Garden Kitchen is a beautiful space with a large outdoor terrace perfect for dog walkers. Sitting at the entrance to the stunning Savill Garden, make sure you make a day of it and visit both.
